Classic Calistoga Itinerary – Winter in the Wineries Passport 2018-2019

Purchase a 2018-2019 Winter in the Wineries Passport to experience all of the complimentary wine tasting experiences and other discounts described in this itinerary! Passport and related offers are valid December 1, 2018 through February 3, 2019.

The quintessential Calistoga experience includes an authentic mud bath, a soak in a hot springs mineral pool, and sipping jammy red cabernet sauvignon. These are “must-do” experiences unique to Calistoga, and below are more things to do while you’re in town.

Day One

Check into your hotel, where you’ll be greeted with warm hospitality and friendly staff. Best Western PLUS Stevenson Manor is a charming boutique hotel with a scenic courtyard and gardens, as well as a heated outdoor pool, sauna, steam room and a new fitness room. If you prefer to have a space all to yourself while on vacation, Calistoga Arbors and Aurora Park Cottages offer peaceful, private cottages where you can relax and unwind in Calistoga.

Passport holders will receive 20% off room rates if booked directly through Best Western PLUS Stevenson Manor Inn or Aurora Park Cottages. Passport holders will receive 10% off weekend rates and 15% off weekday rates at Calistoga Arbors. Additional discounts may apply if you purchase your Passport directly from these properties! Blackout dates apply; see Passport for details.

Take a walk and discover Calistoga’s quaint downtown with unique shops and tasting rooms. Maldonado Family Vineyards is the perfect first winery stop, as this laidback tasting room is offering a complimentary flight of four wines for Passport holders – and — it’s located downtown. The hand-crafted wines at Maldonado showcase the distinctive growing regions around Calistoga. You can also opt to elevate your experience at Maldonado by upgrading to a limited production Reserve Tasting for an additional $10 per person.

Also located downtown, Chateau Ste. Shirts is a boutique shop that sells Calistoga souvenirs, clothing and swimsuits. Here is where you can pick up a few mementos of your trip or purchase a swimsuit to use at the mineral pools.  Good news is that you receive 10% off any regularly priced items you purchase.

Once the sun has set, bring your newfound favorite bottle of Maldonado wine to Checkers Restaurant to receive complimentary corkage and to indulge in an Italian-inspired dinner of pizzas, pastas, salads and more.

Day Two

Today’s the day to tackle the best of Calistoga!

Post breakfast; place your call for the complimentary Calistoga Shuttle to drop you off at Castello di Amorosa, your first winery visit of the day. This authentically-styled 13th-century Tuscan castle winery is 136,000 square feet and boasts a great hall, courtyard, chapel, dungeon, torture chamber, wine barrel room and tasting rooms. The winery is offering a complimentary flight of five wines for Passport holders. We recommend you upgrade to include a one-hour guided tour for an additional $15 per person to experience “the Castle” at its best. (Reservations are recommended for guided tours.)

From the castle, make your way to La Prima Pizza for a casual lunch. Bring a bottle of white or rosé wine from Castello di Amorosa and enjoy it with a handmade pizza, (you’ll receive complimentary corkage on the bottle!).

After lunch, take a relaxing stroll back to the downtown area to enjoy a wine tasting with W.H. Smith Wines, a third generation, family boutique winery pouring award-winning Howell Mountain cabernet and Sonoma Coast pinot noirs. This is a perfect opportunity for you to experience a taste from Calistoga’s surrounding areas. The W.H. Smith tasting room is offering a complimentary flight of three wines for Passport holders.

Close out the day with a relaxing spa treatment such as a Swedish massage or traditional mud bath at Calistoga Spa Hot Springs. Passport holders receive 20% off spa treatments and products, plus you’ll have access to soak and swim in the resort’s hot springs mineral pools. The property features four mineral pools at different temperatures, including a lap pool and a jacuzzi.

There is no activity more relaxing (or more Calistogan) than floating under the stars in naturally heated pools!

Day Three

It’s your last day in Calistoga and a perfect stop for breakfast or brunch is at Hydro Grill, (try the locally-famous huevos rancheros!)

Now that you’re ready to taste more wine, it’s time to embark on a special stop via the complimentary Calistoga Shuttle. Sterling Vineyards on Dunaweal Lane is south of downtown Calistoga, accessible via aerial tram to reach the top of the hill where the winery is perched. Here, you’ll be treated to spectacular Napa Valley views and a complimentary experience that features four wine tastings.

At the close of what is sure to be a memorable visit to Calistoga, don’t worry: you can return at anytime during the Passport program (December 1, 2018 through February 3, 2019) to redeem offers at participating wineries, lodging, spas, shops and restaurants you weren’t able to visit during your first trip!
