Coming to Calistoga for Wellness Week and to want to show Mother Earth some love while here? Visit Calistoga has put together a series of events celebrating Earth Day, Thursday April 22nd, so reserve your spot and come along for the fun!

We suggest you start your morning with a fire-ecology hike in Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. The park has magnificent trails, picnic areas, camping facilities, cabins (and even yurts!) should you choose to spend the night. Pick up a map at the entrance of the park before embarking on this 3-mile self-guided hike that shows the benefits of wildfires on our ecosystem. The park was significantly impacted by the 2020 Glass Fire but now is the time to see how nature is healing itself. The California poppies are blooming, and wildflowers are abundant too! A glorious look at Mother Nature at work.

Once you’ve gotten in your fitness for the day, it’s time to enjoy some vines and wines!  Interested in getting a rare insiders look at a Napa Valley Heritage Vineyard? Reserve your spot with Napa Green certified Amici Cellars and Beckstoffer Vineyards for an Earth Day Vineyard Walk and Tasting.  Andy Beckstoffer, owner of Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard,  will take you through his historic vineyard in Oakville that dates back to the 1800’s and was planted by Napa Valley pioneer, Henry W. Crabb. Following your walk, head to Amici Cellars in Calistoga for a tasting of the wines with a special guest host. They are hosting a morning and afternoon experience.

On Earth Day, we also want to give a nod to another Napa-Green certified winey, Cakebread Cellars, who have created a special Wines + Vines Experience. This private, guided stroll through the winery’s certified Napa Green vineyards in Rutherford includes details on Cakebread’s eco-friendly practices and sustainable farming.

When you’ve finished sipping and strolling through the vines, head back to Calistoga, check into your hotel (see all Wellness Week special lodging offers here) and enjoy a real taste of the earth with a mud bath! Calistoga’s mud is famous world over and our mineral rich mud has multiple health benefits. The mud helps draw impurities out of the skin, exfoliates, improves skin conditions and relieves pain from arthritis. There are many ways to muddy up in Calistoga so check the list of services at our hot springs spas to find the right one for you.

Now that you are thoroughly relaxed and rejuvenated, take a leisurely stroll through town for some shopping or stop into the Sharpsteen Museum to brush up on Calistoga history before making your way to the Mount View Hotel and Spa for the benefit dinner and screening of “March of the Penguins” at the brand-new outdoor movie theater. Delight in a 3-course dinner with wine pairings by Amaro Italian Kitchen then sit back, relax and breathe in the fresh California air while you enjoy this delightful film.

Before turning in for the night, make sure you leave room for an extra treat and head to the newest spot in town, House of Better restaurant at Dr. Wilkinson’s Backyard Resort & Mineral Springs. This is the place where wellness meets happiness, and you won’t want to miss your sweet slice of happiness found in the lemon buttermilk, strawberry rhubarb or Mexican chocolate pecan pies that are available by the slice.

With a nod to nature, wellness and all things Calistoga, your Earth Day is done! Enjoy a restful night sleep and dream a little Wellness Week dream for tomorrow. The full Calistoga Wellness Week schedule of events and special offers can be found here.
