Quirky Experiences Itinerary – Winter in the Wineries Passport 2018-2019

Purchase a 2018-2019 Winter in the Wineries Passport to experience all of the complimentary wine tasting experiences and other discounts described in this itinerary! Passport and related offers are valid December 1, 2018 through February 3, 2019.

Calistoga is known for its unique history as a quirky, resort town, and for its stellar wine and wellness options. Whether it’s how Calistoga got its name, (allegedly a tipsy slur of founder, Sam Brannan, whose intention was to make this town the “Saratoga of California” but instead, he slurred, the “Calistoga of Sarafornia”), the signature mud bath spa treatments or the many unusual and artisanal wineries, guests may enjoy any number of quirky and only-in-Calistoga experiences here!

Day One

Check into one of Calistoga’s unique lodging properties. If you’re intent on enjoying Calistoga’s famous mineral pools, consider staying at Calistoga Motor Lodge & Spa, a boutique Napa Valley hotel newly renovated in a retro-influenced, contemporary style. The rooms and suites recall vintage air streams and the pools are fed by geothermal springs! Other excellent options include EuroSpa & Inn and The Bungalows at Calistoga. The rooms at EuroSpa feature welcoming country décor, whirlpool tubs, woodstove fireplaces and redwood decks, while The Bungalows boast high ceilings, spacious living areas, fireplaces, well-stocked kitchens and private outdoor spaces to lounge and relax!

Passport holders will receive 15% off at Calistoga Motor Lodge & Spa, 20% off at EuroSpa & Inn and 10-15% off at The Bungalows at Calistoga. Blackout dates apply; see Passport for details.

Once you are settled in at your hotel, go for a walk downtown and discover all that Calistoga’s charming main street has to offer. Make an advance appointment for a tasting at Picayune Cellars, a négociant-style winery located in the Calistoga Train Depot complex. In addition to wine, curated gift items from French and American artisans are featured inside this quaint tasting room offering a complimentary flight of three wines for Passport holders.

After your wine tasting, take a bottle of your new favorite Picayune wine to dinner at All Seasons Bistro and enjoy a delicious and cozy French-inspired bistro with seasonal cuisine. You’ll receive complimentary corkage on the bottle!

Day Two

Start the day with a class or private individual or couple’s session at Calistoga Pilates; Passport holders receive 20% off.

Now is the time to head out for your first tasting of the day at Tank Garage Winery, a 1930s-era gas station brought to life. The wines featured here are a small collection of one-off, uniquely-crafted wines reflective of the heart and soul of vintage California culture and creativity. The winery is offering a complimentary flight of three wines from their collection of unique, blended varietals for Passport holders.

In the vicinity of Tank Garage is the West End Antiques District that features a number of antique shops including Rags to Riches, offering 10% off regularly priced items for Passport holders. You’ll find Calistoga Pottery nearby as well, a charming art shop with handmade ceramic goods, also offering a 10% discount.

Just down the street is Tank Garage Winery’s sister property, T-Vine Winery. This winery is best known for its unique, single-vineyard wines. The owners’ mission is to search near and far for California’s oldest heritage vineyards to feature. T-Vine is offering a complimentary flight of three wines for Passport holders and a 10% discount on available merchandise.

Take a bottle of your favorite wine you’ve enjoyed so far and enjoy it with lunch or dinner at Tanit Pan-Asian Cuisine.

Whether or not you’re staying at the Calistoga Motor Lodge, you can make an appointment for a treatment at its on-site MoonAcre Spa. Passport holders receive a complimentary Perfectly Muddled or Splish Splash experience with the purchase of a 50- or 80-minute treatment, so it makes sense to take advantage of this opportunity to unwind and relax at the property’s spa garden and in the mineral pools.

Day Three

Begin your final day in Calistoga with brunch at Lovina, a lovely, intimate restaurant with an outdoor patio and seasonal menu.

Walk, bike or drive up to von Strasser Family of Wines on the Silverado Trail. This laidback winery features the von Strasser & Lava Vine Winery brands. The Passport offer includes a complimentary flight of four wines, and the winery occasionally hosts live music in the tasting room!

The only challenge now is bidding adieu to your relaxing visit to Calistoga. But, don’t worry. You can return at anytime during the Passport program (December 1, 2018 through February 3, 2019) to redeem offers at other participating wineries, lodging, spas, shops and restaurants!
