Relax, You’re In Calistoga Itinerary – Winter in the Wineries Passport 2018-2019

Purchase a 2018-2019 Winter in the Wineries Passport to experience all of the complimentary wine tasting experiences and other discounts described in this itinerary! Passport and related offers are valid December 1, 2018 through February 3, 2019.

There’s a reason our motto is “Relax, You’re in Calistoga!” Whether you’re here to indulge in wine, wellness or both, Calistoga has everything you need for a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway.

Day One

Check into your hotel, get settled and then go for a quick dip in the hot springs mineral pools. Calistoga Spa Hot Springs presents the classic Calistoga experience with remodeled guest rooms and spa, plus four geothermal mineral pools. UpValley Inn & Hot Springs offers a tranquil wine country escape with natural mineral water pools, while Mount View Hotel & Spa is an historic hotel featuring luxury guestrooms, a standard pool and mineral water jacuzzi among its outdoor cabanas.

Passport holders will receive 20% off at Calistoga Spa Hot Springs, 20-40% off at UpValley Inn & Hot Springs and 15-25% off at Mount View Hotel & Spa. Blackout dates apply; see Passport for details.

Go for a stroll through downtown to familiarize yourself with Calistoga’s charming main street, Lincoln Avenue. You’ll find something for every style at boutiques like North Star Gift Shop and Funke’s, both offering 10% off regularly priced items for Passport holders.

August Briggs Winery is also conveniently located downtown, so why not make an appointment in advance for an afternoon tasting? This craft producer of small lot wines is run by owners Matt and Colette, who you are likely to meet in the tasting room! They are offering a complimentary flight of three wines for Passport holders to enjoy in the tasting room or on the comfortable wine terrace overlooking the Napa River. Plus, you’ll receive a 10% discount if you purchase two or more bottles of wine, (and you won’t want to leave without buying – the pinot noir at August Briggs is legendary!).

Following an afternoon of wine tasting, bring a bottle of wine from August Briggs to dinner with you at the Calistoga Inn, Restaurant & Brewery across the street. You’ll receive complimentary corkage on the bottle and enjoy a delicious, seasonal meal inside or under the heat lamps on the outdoor patio.

Day Two

Start the day off with an invigorating bike ride through town. You’ll receive 10% off bicycle rentals from the Calistoga Bikeshop! Pack a picnic lunch with takeout from any of the local restaurants or the Cal Mart grocery store; ride through the quiet, residential neighborhood along Grant Street to Tubbs Lane, the latter where some of Calistoga’s most renowned wineries are located.

Stop in Envy Wines to purchase a bottle to enjoy with your picnic lunch on the Tuscan-inspired patio. Envy is offering a complimentary flight of five wines for Passport holders or you can upgrade to receive a reserve tasting flight for an additional $25.

After a relaxing interlude at Envy Wines, ride your bike across the street to Summers Estate Wines. Be sure to make an appointment for a tasting at this small, family winery that features 50 acres of estate vineyards, including vines of the “infamous” and Calistoga-centric charbono grape. Inside, the friendly, long-time staff will guide Passport holders through a complimentary flight of three wines.

While on Tubbs Lane, you may also want to stop at the Old Faithful Geyser – guests who arrive by bicycle receive a discount on admission!

Return downtown to take advantage of the wellness scene in Calistoga. Make a prior appointment for a massage or mud bath at Calistoga Spa Hot Springs and receive a 20% discount with your Passport. Enjoy the mineral pools on the property and inside, enjoy the recently renovated spa facilities!

When you are thoroughly relaxed, walk over to Sam’s Social Club with a bottle of wine purchased earlier in the day from one of your Passport winery visits; you’ll receive complimentary corkage. Indulge in a decadent meal by the indoor fireplace or step outside by the fire pit and get cozy!

Day Three

Begin your final day in Calistoga with a classic breakfast at Café Sarafornia. This quirky diner offers traditional breakfast and lunch dishes as well as creative, California cuisine.

Head out for your last day of wine tasting and pay a visit to Laura Michael Wines. Make an appointment in advance for this family-owned and operated small-production winery that specializes in cabernet sauvignon and zinfandel. The winery is offering a complimentary flight of four wines for Passport holders, and you can upgrade to a Reserve Cabernet Tasting for an additional $15 per person. You’ll be charmed by the relaxed atmosphere here!

Madrigal Family Winery awaits your presence in time for your 1pm reservation to taste a complimentary flight of four wines, a vineyard tour (weather permitting) and a peek behind-the-scenes of production, special to Passport holders. This boutique winery has been owned by the Madrigal family since the late 1930s and is an excellent final visit of the day!

You won’t want to leave after such a relaxing visit to Calistoga, but don’t worry. You can return anytime during the Passport program (December 1, 2018 through February 3, 2019) to redeem offers at other participating wineries, lodging, spas, shops and restaurants!
