At-Home Wellness with Roman Spa Hot Springs Resort

Need some tips to keep up your wellness routine from the comfort of your home? Our friends at Roman Spa Hot Springs Resort have put together a few of their favorite recommendations and activities that can be done quickly and easily with a few ingredients.

LEMON FACIAL

Lemons contain AHAs and BHAs, two types of hydroxy acid that remove dead skin cells and help clear up blackheads, acne, and discoloration. Create a homemade face mask by mixing the juice from one lemon with 1/4 cup olive oil or sweet almond oil. Or mix the juice of 1/2 lemon with a tablespoon of honey. Apply to your face, wait 15 minutes, and rinse off with warm water.

OATMEAL FACIAL

Combine 1/2 cup hot—not boiling—water and 1/3 cup oatmeal. After the water and oatmeal have settled for two or three minutes, mix in 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, and one small egg white. Apply a thin layer of the mask to your face, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water. (Be sure to place a metal or plastic strainer in your sink to avoid clogging the drain with the granules.) Oatmeal is considered to hold natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that treat dry skin and acne. Oats also contain compounds known as saponins, which is a natural cleanser. These natural elements remove oil and dirt properties while exfoliating.

HEALING POWER OF EUCALYPTUS

Hang eucalyptus leaves in your shower or add a couple drops of eucalyptus oil before entering the shower. Eucalyptus is a natural way to open the respiratory system by relieving congestion and acting as a natural humidifier.

RELAX WITH LAVENDER

Add a couple drops of lavender oil to your pillow at night to relax and fall asleep quicker. Lavender oil is known for treating anxiety and insomnia as well as providing anti-inflammatory benefits.
