Black Mission Figs are everywhere at the moment-the markets are exploding with this sweet and rich fruit that is so versatile in the kitchen. Eat them on their own, make fig preserves or if you are hoping to impress dinner guests, serve them roasted, for dessert, as Laurie Shelton of CAMi Vineyards does. It’s a simple, elegant and sure to please dish. Visit Calistoga might add a dollop of vanilla ice cream, but they shine on their own as well.
