Art Exhibition Opening – CAMi Gallery

Join us on Saturday, September 26th from 4-7pm, as we open our latest exhibition by artist Laurie M Shelton.

“Each person’s Eden is their own; mine takes the form of a garden. These are abstract paintings made primarily with oil on canvas. They began by looking through the windows of my home into the gardens outside. Each window frames the garden, offering only a partial view. Sometimes windows overlap screens, overlapping windows. Returning to these views over time, I watched forms emerge, connect, bloom, fade and disappear. I use color shape, line and gesture to respond to what I see, but as I work, recognizable forms become incresingly abstract. Color and shape take over, and the paintings develop their own relationships and rhythms. The resulting works are not paintings of a garden in the traditional sense. They are fragments of a place observed over time – an Eden that is abundant, changing and never entirely within view.”
