“On canvas, Cross James wrestles with powerful emotions, and the big questions of the universe: life & death, pain, fear and love. An intuitive painter, she works primarily on abstracts, with an occasional break in style for lush floral still lives or tender renderings of a cherished landscape. Cross James’ work is a personal exploration encompassing tears and laughter, tragedy and triumph – a journey of life, born of the spirit and shared from the heart”
Cross James was educated at Mills College, in Oakland, California. She has been an illustrator, art director and educator. She has had 28 select solo exhibitions, and included in over 130 group exhibitions between 1984 & 2009. Her work is held in numerous public and private collections.
