Over the past decade, the Passport has become an annual adventure, as purchasers plan their routes to the multiple participating wineries, ranging from the relaxed Tank Garage Winery in a stylish converted gas station, to the modern CAMi Vineyards tasting room that doubles as an art gallery.
For a taste of rural countryside, Tamber Bey Vineyards welcomes with an upscale barn-style setting designed by acclaimed Napa Valley architect Howard Backen, surrounded by pastures and actual barns that are home to horses. Tastings include visits with the horses, plus novel extras like a savory cookie pairing option that includes daily changing bites such as black bacon sea salt cookies.
A visit to Sterling Vineyards is unique, as well, starting with a gondola ride up the mountain and views across Calistoga. And there are more views at the lushly landscaped Fairwinds Estate Winery, from a hillside terrace overlooking vineyards, plus a 22,000 square foot cave.
