Modern hotel guests want more than just a pretty room and cozy bed these days – you expect to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience that offers a sense of place. Indeed, this past April, Hotel Business Magazine reported that 81% of consumers request local adventure recommendations from their hotels, for “more personalized travel experiences.”
Which isn’t exactly news for the owners of Calistoga’s Roman Spa Hot Springs Resort. The Quast family has owned and operated the property since 1975, and these days, the team is constantly creating new opportunities to embrace not only the resort itself, but also its gorgeous, surrounding Wine Country region.
Throughout summer, for example, guests can partake in the Summertime Jammin’ package built around the downtown Concerts in the Park. First, choose your concert. Your Roman Spa concierge arranges your tickets, then packs up a feast including a fried chicken dinner with all the fixings from Calistoga’s French Creole restaurant, Evangeline, a bottle of Tank Garage Winery Backstage Pass Red Wine, a Roman Spa logo wine key, and a picnic blanket.
The package includes an overnight stay in a luxury room, and extra options like spa treatments.
For another unique getaway that showcases Calistoga’s charm, you can indulge in one of the resort’s custom-designed Splendido Jacuzzi Suites year-round. Done in elegant Tuscan Villa style, the suites center around Roman spa-like bathrooms accented in etched stone, mosaic tile and marble, with a two-person Jacuzzi tub fed with healing geothermal water sourced directly from the hot springs around the property. There’s also a glass-encased, hot springs-fed rain shower for two, and other romantic touches like a dual fireplace between the bath and king master suite, and a sound system piped into your private “spa.”
Back in the main suite, you can relax in your plush chamois robes and slippers, in a sitting area set with hardwood floors and handcrafted rugs.
