Pet Friendly

3 Day Itinerary

Looking for a pet-friendly getaway that feels as pampering for your pup as it does for you? Calistoga welcomes you and your four-legged friend with cozy lodging, dog-friendly wineries, outdoor dining, and amazing local vibes for a wine country escape with a twist!

Day 1

Check into one of Calistoga’s pet-friendly stays: unwind at Brannan Cottage Inn, Cottage Grove Inn, Bear Flag Inn, or Trailside Inn if you’re into a cozy cottage or B&B vibe. For something a bit more luxe, try Solage, Auberge Resort, Calistoga Motor Lodge & Spa, or Dr. Wilkinson’s Backyard Resort & Mineral Springs. Feeling outdoorsy? Bring the RV or pitch a tent at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park —pets are welcome!

After you’re settled, stroll through downtown with your pup in tow. Many shops are pet-friendly, and the Calistoga Welcome Center even has a water bowl for furry visitors. For a relaxing start, head to Romeo Vineyards & Cellars to sip wine under the redwoods, with plenty of shade for your pet on the patio. Or, pop over to Picayune Cellars & Mercantile across the street for a unique shopping experience, where your pup can chill on the back patio while you browse and sip.

Day 2

Start the day at Bella Bakery with coffee and pastries enjoyed outside at the sidewalk tables, perfect for people- and dog-watching. Afterward, take your pooch for a tasting at Bennett Lane Winery or make an appointment at Envy Wines for a relaxing sip on their Tuscan-inspired terrace.  Your pup will love a hike up the Oat Hill Mine Trail or the Napa Valley Vine Trail for a hike

Next, make a stop at Old Faithful Geyser to check out the natural phenomenon and maybe even get your dog to “chat” with the resident fainting goats—it’s the best way to see them in action! Head back to town for brunch at Lovina, where the pet-friendly patio is great for people-watching and your pup might score a few crumbs under the table.

For an afternoon adventure, drive to the Petrified Forest for a one-mile hike among ancient petrified trees, then quench your thirst at Hans Fahden Vineyards just up the road. Stroll through their gardens and taste wine with your pup by your side before heading back to town.

End the day at Robert’s Tropical Table for happy hour on their outdoor patio, facing Lincoln Avenue. With the best views of the town’s buzzing main street, it’s a laid-back spot to wind down with your pet and a superbly made local cocktail.

Day 3

Fuel up for your last day with outdoor breakfast seating at Café Sarafornia —a classic diner that’s perfect for a hearty start. If you’re looking for picnic supplies or quick bites, Sam’s General Store has all you need, from coffee and pastries to mini quiches, sandwiches, and treats. Both patios are pup-approved!

For wine-tasting vibes close to town, Picayune Cellars & Mercantile offers a luxurious new tasting room amazingly delicious and affordable wine, plus an eclectic shopping experience (try the hat bar!) It’s perfect for a midday stop.

Wrap up your trip with a scenic walk or bike ride on the Vine Trail starting from Washington Street, and make your way down to Twomey Winery at Dunaweal Lane. This architectural gem has sweeping views, Murano glass chandeliers, and a dog-friendly atmosphere. Take a stroll through their beautiful grounds, admire the Renaissance fountain, and relax as you soak up the ambiance.

For a final dinner, Evangeline is an outdoor patio spot that serves up bistro-inspired dishes with a twist. Enjoy seasonal fried green tomatoes, classic steak frites, or try their popular fried chicken to-go option—your pet will love the fresh air and you’ll love the vibrant flavors.

By the end of your trip, you and your pup will feel completely refreshed and relaxed, with memories of a wine country adventure you didn’t have to leave your best friend behind for!
